5 GREAT SHOWS!

MORIA'S WORKSHOPS

TUNISIAN FUSION

Friday  April 6th  3:00pm - 5:00pm

TUNISIAN FUSION is designed for the dancer who wants to differentiate her dance and explore styles of movement that utilize more complex rhythms and high-energy combinations.

TUNISIAN FUSION places a strong emphasis on twisting, unique posturing, and unexpected floor patterns.

Moving forward, backward, and up and down, you will learn this intricate and exciting form of ethnic dance and its combinations as they apply to Tribal Fusion belly dance.

The focus will be on the muscle conditioning necessary for Tunisian fusion's twists, locks, drops, and shimmies, as well as the intensive drills of Tunisian combinations for moving as well as stationary applications.

Folkloric and fresh, sweaty and unique,

TUNISIAN FUSION culminates in a

Tribal Fusion choreography.

Dance shoes are recommended.

Note the jars and baskets worn on the head which were artifacts intrinsic to ancient Tunisian culture and remain hallmarks of their national folk dances.

JAVANESE FUSION

Saturday  April 7th  3:00pm - 5:00pm

JAVANESE FUSION distills the philosophy of Javanese culture through the use of controlled and refined movement.

The goal of Javanese courtly dances is to display an elevated, serene composure vis-à-vis the implementation of slow transitions and graceful poses.

These dances have an introspective quality stemming from the nature of the dance as a pusaka, meaning a “sacred heirloom,” which has descended directly from the royal ancestors, and which may transfer an honorary title or confer supernatural abilities.

In JAVANESE FUSION you will learn these movements as an emotional, spiritual, and physical expression derived from ancient “ancestral treasures” and come to understand that by learning these elegant gestures and poses, a certain numinous quality comes with them.

The piece is called "Dewi Sri."
